In the hospitality industry, the transition from the parking lot to the dining room is a critical moment. For Boston Pizza in Beaumont, the challenge is maintaining a family-friendly, polished atmosphere while dealing with the constant inflow of guests during Alberta’s messy shoulder seasons. Restaurants face a high liability risk from “tracked-in” moisture on slick tiled floors; a single puddle in a high-traffic entryway can compromise guest safety and disrupt service.
To mitigate this, Boston Pizza implemented a high-performance floor safety strategy. By moving away from thin, saturated rental mats and opting for a permanent, engineered solution, they have prioritized both guest experience and operational efficiency.
The Solution: Zonal Moisture Capture
For this location, the focus was on maximizing the “scrape and wipe” surface area within the vestibule. In a restaurant setting, you need a mat that can handle heavy grit without looking dirty by the middle of the dinner rush.

As seen in the project photos, we installed a large-format Triathlon Series matting system. This choice was driven by the specific needs of a high-volume eatery:
- Dual-Fiber Technology: The Triathlon material uses a needle-punch design that mechanically scrapes debris from shoe treads while the absorbent fibers lock in moisture. This ensures that the “wet zone” ends exactly where the mat ends, leaving the interior restaurant tiles bone-dry.
- Mottled Charcoal Aesthetics: We selected the Charcoal color because it is the most effective at hiding the grey salt residue and mud common in Beaumont. This allows the entrance to maintain a professional, clean appearance even during peak hours when staff cannot be constantly mopping the foyer.
- Precision Vestibule Fit: As shown in the images, the mat is custom-cut to fit the entire width of the entrance. This “wall-to-wall” approach is a specialist-grade tactic: it forces every guest to take multiple steps on the matting, ensuring maximum soil capture regardless of their walking path.
- Tapered Safety Edging: To protect guests of all ages, from toddlers to seniors, we utilized factory-applied safety edging. This ensures a low-profile, trip-free transition that stays flat and secure, even under the high-frequency use of heavy commercial doors.
